Apart of the mobility case, the application of methane decarbonization may play an important role to make possible the carbon capture during the end use of methane in industries and houses. The development of small capacity units might make possible the transformation at small scale into the housing sector from methane to hydrogen, producing carbon as secondary material, that could be easily managed, and avoiding the risks of hydrogen storage or distribution to small consumers. A basic scheme for the integration of methane decomposition into PtG is depicted in Figure 4.5.
